Idioms help tell good stories | Kim on being a grandma

Idioms are powerful💪 tools because they create imagery. For example, ’that car is a sweet ride’ gives you an immediate image of a car that is comfortable, a joy to drive, prestigious, to be desired, etc. So many concepts in two words. When telling 💬 a story, you want the listener to feel what you are feeling and idioms can invoke the emotions you want. Context is everything when using idioms. If you don’t have a good understanding of the meaning behind the idiom, it won’t make sense. Kim and I decided to make a video where some good storytelling idioms are put into the context so they make sense and make you sound more natural The video consists of 3 parts to make the most of the idioms 👀Part I lets you identify the idioms Kim uses in her speech when telling her story 📝Part II breaks down the idioms Kim used so you can understand what they mean and how they work 🎧🎤Part III lets you do some listen-and-repeat-activities so you can definitely get a better feel of the idioms used in the story
