There are lots of cross-border friendships and in some sense, it is these friendships that build understanding between people from different countries and make the world a better place. For more about these encounters between Chinese and people from other countries, please check out the series “Encounters in China“ from the playlist Dick Hollifield (USA) moved to Shenzhen in 1993 to manage a chemical plant, and he’s witnessed the city become a metropolis. When he needed to construct a new factory, he hired Dannis Deng (Shanghai) to manage it. Dick and Dannis became firm friends, and together have seen Shenzhen’s transformation. The plant they originally built in the countryside is now the centre of an urban area.
