The Forms: 6. Lok Dim Boon Gwan (Long Pole)

The “six and a half point pole“ is a heavy and inflexible tapered pole, between 12 and 16 feet in length. It challenges the practitioner to control a heavily unbalanced weight, and assimilate that pole’s weight into their own stance in order to be able to wield it as a fast and unyielding weapon. In today’s training, the pole stands as a tool for refinement of the stance, and as the last form in the series to master. This form requires significant preparation exercises before attempting it in order to avoid injury. Always ask your instructor before undertaking a new form, as the most important aspects of each form cannot be seen in videos like these. They are provided here merely for reference.
