I want to point out something that is not in the video. Sound produced can only be amplified by the vocal tract. This occurs when everyone sings, with the exception of nasal singers. By attempting to sing forward in the mask, Marilyn Horne is constricting and manipulating the vocal tract to make this particular sound. The masky sound is actually not coming from the mask.
