Tour de France 2023, Stage 16 (Passy - Combloux), course, route, profile, animation

“Tuesday, 18 July An individual time trial through the Alps, that’s what the riders have in front of their wheels on the 22.4 kilometre route from Passy to Combloux. The short and steep Côte de Domancy adds some pepper to the route. The route is somewhat similar to the time trial in the 2016 Tour, when it went from Sallanches to Megève and over the Côte de Domancy to Combloux before the finish. This year’s route overlaps with the one from seven editions ago. There is an extra stretch before that, but the end has been cut. After a flat climb of 2.2 kilometres, the riders climb the Côte de Soudans at 8.8% for 1.3 kilometres. A gradual descent then leads to a flat section that goes via Sallanches to Domancy. There begins the Côte de Domancy, a climb at 9.4%, after which the road climbs another 3.5 kilometres at just under 5% to Combloux. In 2016, the route initially went even higher and finally ended with a descent and a victory for Chris Froome. This time there will be a different winner.“ ( & Routes ’n’ Maps ’n’ Flags) Creating cycling stage animations requires a lot of work and computing power.
