Lice (Head, Body and Pubic Lice) | Pediculosis | Species, Symptoms and Treatment

Lesson on Head, Body and Pubic Lice (condition known as pediculosis). Lice are obligate insect parasites that can infest body and areas with hair. Having lice leads to the condition known as pediculosis. There are three species of lice that afflict humans, with each causing a different condition of pediculosis depending on the area of the body affected. Having lice can lead to allergic reaction that can cause itching and rashes, along with hyperpigmentation due to excessive scratching. Furthermore, some types of lice can transmit some bacterial infections, which can cause significant diseases. Treatment of lice can be accomplished through use of topical or oral medications and removal of lice can be done with household ingredients. I hope you find this lesson helpful.
