Today @catalystquartet—our @metlivearts 2022-23 Quartet in Residence—performs ‘Presidio’ by composer Andy Akiho (@andyakiho) from inside the Astor Chinese Garden Court, writing: “Andy’s miniature ‘Presidio’ brings all the funky vibes. This miniature is almost entirely pizzicato, and the constant mixing of different meters creates a super groovy vibe. Andy is originally a steel drummer, and we always feel like we are jamming out when we play his music.” What’s #CQMinute? In commemoration of their 10th anniversary, Catalyst Quartet has commissioned a series of miniature string quartets from 11 composers, ranging from Pulitzer winners to jazz legends to indie-pop stars—all performed in the Museum’s galleries and released right here on The Met’s YouTube and Instagram.
