Did you receive ’Emergency Alert: Severe’ on your phone? Here’s what it is all about

Many smartphones on September 15 received an alert message titled ’Emergency Alert: Severe’. Also, there was a loud beep when the message was received which panicked the users. The same message was received by users across India in both Hindi and English. There’s nothing to panic about as it was sent by Department of Telecommunications (DoT) under the Central Govt. Aiming to enhance public safety and provide timely alerts during emergencies, DoT conducted a pan-India ’emergency alert’ testing. A test message titled ’Emergency Alert: Severe’, was sent to subscribers on Vodafone Idea, Jio, Airtel, and BSNL networks. This message was sent to test the pan-India emergency alert system implemented by National Disaster Management Authority. An official from NDMA told ANI that it was a “Cell Broadcasting System“ message that is currently under testing. #LatestNews #’EmergencyAlert #IndiaNews Subscribe now and press the bell icon 🔔 to get new video updates: -------------------------------------- ANI is South Asia’s leading Multimedia News Agency providing content for every information platform, including TV, Internet, broadband, newspapers, and mobiles.
