The desktop video is being rendered frame by frame (at best) using GDI and for parsing the video frames. The message boxes are homemade customizable WPF windows, because ordinary message boxes do not allow you to change position (or so I’m told). The timings were done completely in Audacity because it offers the option to export label tracks (you can actually edit it in the “Label “ file). If there’s a demand for it I can provide the source code, just mind that it’s really just made to work and not good practice or optimized at the very least.
