Katia & Marielle Labèque & Berlin Phil – Saint-Saëns: Le Carnaval Des Animaux: Aquarium

This summer concert given by the Berliner Philharmoniker at Berlin’s Waldbühne features an exquisite program of popular pieces including Ravel’s Boléro, Satie’s Gymnopedie, Saint-Saëns’ Le Carnaval des animaux with the outstanding Labèque sisters, and the traditional final song “Berliner Luft” by Paul Lincke. The Waldbühne Concert of the Berliner Philharmoniker is – similar to the Proms In The Park in the UK – one of the most popular outdoor classical music events in Germany. This concert from 2005 stands out in recent years for its fine program, the subtle playing of the soloists, and Simon Rattle’s energetic pacing of his forces.
