Numbers That Draw (1914-1918)

Numbers that draw. Location of events unknown. Science. Invention is demonstrated in which a pendulum is set swinging and makes drawings by letting ink out of a sort of pen onto a paper below (the same principle as is applied in gadgets which use a pointer drawing shapes in a dish of sand). There are several title frames throughout which vaguely explain and express wonder at the operation. The contraption hangs from a string which divides in a Y and hangs from a frame higher than a man’s head. The man starts it going. Title: By changing the button the bottom swings at different speeds. Here it swings twice while the top only swings once. CU DS of the pendulum drawing a curve. CU man’s hand swings it again; this time it makes a loop And it makes a more complicated pattern.
