Should more 16 year olds get the vote? - BBC My World

Turning 16 is a big moment for many young people around the world. Lots of you can begin to drive, get jobs and even pay taxes - but very few countries will allow you to vote. Only 11 countries and islands around the world let 16-year-olds vote. Is this fair? In this video BBC My World explains how, and why, the rules are so different depending on where you live. You can also watch our video with two 16 year-olds from countries with very different election rules. We brought together Bradley from Malta and Elyazia from Dubai for a conversation for BBC My World about why voting matters so much to them: BBC My World is a new show for young people around the world, brought to you by executive producers Angelina Jolie and the BBC World Service. We’ve also partnered with Microsoft Education and BBC Learning to show you how the news is made, fact-check stories and spot fake news. Subscribe to #BBCMyWorld here:
