Han Dynasty Halberd in Action - Ji 戟 by LK Chen

Here is a demonstration of the Han dynasty halberd, Ji 戟 in action. This is a fascinating weapon, especially the different configurations and various lengths of pole used for specific fighting purposes. In this video I demonstrate some Choy Li Fut techniques with the polearm Ji, and in later videos we will look at the short pole Ji, and hand Ji in action. Although there isn’t much material about how they were used in combat in the Han dynasty, looking at battle formations that are clearly recorded in later dynasties show compact formations with linear techniques, which is most likely how they were used in the Han as well.
