Eruption: You (You Are My Soul)/Fight Fight Fight [The Marek Mixes] (1980)

After Precious Wilson’s departure in 1979, Eruption found themselves a new lead singer in Kim Davis. A seasoned veteran, she had released a string of singles over the past 14 years and one LP in 1973. Their first collaboration was released in early spring of 1980, the album Fight Fight Fight, and the first single “Go Johnnie Go“ - while not released in the UK - became Eruption’s third Top 10-hit in Germany, but tragedy struck shortly after when Kim Davis was involved in a car accident, and was left unable to work. Jane Jochen jumped in to replace her and promote the single. “You“ had been planned as the second single in July 1980 with an accompanying 12“ single scheduled too, but ended up being released on a 7“ only a full year later where it made a modest showing at #65 in the German charts.
