ZX SPECTRUM +2A/+3 : The Best Modern Setup - Episode #2

Welcome to this second episode, where we will show you how to set up a mass storage device and an 8GB HDD for use with the IDEDOS OS. This series is for ZX Spectrum 2A/ 3 users. We will upgrade a ZX Spectrum 2A to a very powerful retro computer with 7 modern operating systems and several different storage devices. If you have a 3 you can get the same results. The 3 has two more 16 KB ROMs, physically implemented as two 32 KB chips. One is the home to the second part of the reorganised 128 ROM and the other hosts the 3’s disk operating system. This is a modified version of Amstrad’s AMDOS, called 3DOS. To facilitate the new ROMs and CP/M, the bank-switching was further improved, allowing the ROM to be paged out for another 16 KB of RAM. The 3 is the only ZX Spectrum model that is capable of running the CP/M operating system without additional hardware. Also featured is an interface port for a printer (standard 8-bit Centronics Interface), an interface port for a second disk
