From 25 Études Faciles. The German composer (Johann) Friedrich Burgmuller (1806-74) trained in his own country but moved to France in 1832, and settled there, becoming a French citizen. He was a successful piano teacher and composer of salon pieces and studies. This set of 25 pieces is his best-known work, and almost every piano student will learn at least one of them (although rarely the complete set, as, despite the title, some are tricky to play well on modern pianos).
