Timing Chain Noise | BMW E30 318is M42B18

This M42 engine suffers from bad cam sprockets and a slack timing chain. The rattling noise is worst at 2800 RPM. I replaced the chain tensioner which resulted in the rattling noise being worst at 3000 RPM. I have been driving with the engine in this condition for at least 50 000 km and I have not had any problems yet. But I am very rarely revving the engine over 3000 RPM.
