Mud - Lonely This Christmas • TopPop

In 1974 the Netherlands was under the spell of the British glam rock band Mud. Mud had a number of unsuccessful singles in the late 60s. The band performed music from Nicky Chinn and Mike Chapman, who also wrote the hits for The Sweet and Suzi Quatro. The first result was Crazy, which did well in England. The next single Hypnosis was not exuberant enough for the Netherlands. The third single Dyna-mite caught on. Mud went straight to number one in the Netherlands, even though it was after a hesitant start; it was, after all, a single from 1973! The Mudmania was supported by the videos in AVRO’s Toppop, where the men in bright red clothing did their dance steps. Watch our great music videos ❯ More TopPop?
