While Russia officially claimed it has fully captured Bakhmut, Kyiv said it still holds “some buildings“ and fortifications in the southwestern part of the city. Announcing the capture of Bakhmut, Prigozhin said that his mercenaries would withdraw from the city on May 25. However, Kyiv says Prigozhin’s victory claims are a scheme to let his mercenaries flee from Bakhmut and evade punishments.
