Sometimes a simple melody is difficult to play because it is known by so many people that if you make a mistake, it’s heard! So-- it’s kind of like a truth serum to play a simple song in a fashion that is accepted as a conventional performance and also to break through the nerves of accepting a potential mistake and performing with musical phrasing.
