LS Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh arriving - National Anthem is played. LS Duke accompanied by Billy Butlin walking across dance hall to microphone. LS Duke receiving a cheque for £7,000 for National Playing Fields Association (NPFA), from Billy Butlin. LS Duke speaks: ’Mr. Butlin, Ladies and Gentlemen, thank you very much indeed for your kind welcome this evening, and thank you all for the wonderful contribution to the Playing Fields of this country. As you heard, this scheme started three and a half years ago, and it was decided then that money raised would be spent in the town from which most of the campers had come from. As a result of this either fields or pavilion have been started or are planning in, or in an enormous number of places, Coventry, Liverpool, Halifax Oldham and Bolton, Carlisle, and I think tomorrow Wigan will be added to the list.
