One of the Best Hikes Ever to Mt Townsend in the Buckhorn Wilderness of Washington

This hike was 9 miles round trip and had an elevation gain of 3200 feet. We were just under 6300 feet at the summit. The trail was extremely steep for most of the way, very few flatish spots to recover while walking. Approximately 3/4th the way up there was a trail spur to Silver Lake which allows over night camping. The forest service road to the trail head is mainly paved, only about 2 of the 15ish miles are not paved. The Buckhorn Wilderness is located in the Olympic National Forest which is just east of Olympic National Park.
