The First Official Lap of the Albert Park F1® Circuit

After years of planning and months of work, the honour of the first official lap of the brand-new Albert Park Formula 1® Circuit went to former Australian F1® driver Tim Schenken OAM and 23 future superstars of Australian motorsport. The day before Albert Park throws open its gates to the public for the first time since 2020, Tim led the ceremonial first lap in a 250F Maserati before peeling off and allowing the kids to really test out the new circuit. It’s been years since Albert Park has seen any racing and we couldn’t think of a better way to christen the new Circuit than with an Australian motorsport legend and the kids from Karting Australia.
