Новокузне́цк — город в Кемеровской области России, Первый по площади в Кузбассе и второй по населению, а также старейший город Кемеровской области. Расположен на юге Западной Сибири, на обеих берегах реки Томи, в южной части Кемеровской области. Первоначально город был основан в 1616 году как острог возле впадения реки Кондомы в реку Томь. В 1618 году острог перенесли на высокую террасу правого берега Томи (в этом месте теперь расположена Кузнецкая крепость). Новокузнецк — 31-й по численности населения в России; важный экономический, транспортный и культурный центр Сибири. Население — 544 583 чел. (2021). Площадь города — 424,27 км². Novokuznetsk is a city in the Kemerovo region of Russia, the first by area in Kuzbass and the second by population, as well as the oldest city in the Kemerovo region. It is located in the south of Western Siberia, on both banks of the Tom River, in the southern part of the Kemerovo region. The city was originally founded in 1616 as a prison near the confluence of the Kondoma River with the Tom River. In 1618, the prison was moved to a high terrace on the right bank of the Tom River (the Kuznetsk Fortress is now located in this place). Novokuznetsk is the 31st most populous city in Russia; an important economic, transport and cultural center of Siberia. The population is 544,583 people (2021). The area of the city is km2.
