This black & white educational film was made during WWII by the office of the Coordinator of Inter-American Affairs as part of the USA’s “good neighbor“ policy. Produced by Julien Bryan, it is a profile of the city of Lima, Peru, with narration providing historical background and visuals showing the modern city as it appeared in 1944. The film depicts the nation of Peru as one on the rise, with modern hospitals, transportation systems, and a public university open to all students, even those from less fortunate backgrounds. It was photographed by Jules Bucher with a script by Miriam Bucher.
