🟡 Xi called Kissinger an “old friend“ and said that “the Chinese value friendship“ and will never forget his “historical contribution to the development of Sino-US relations and friendship between peoples.“ The Chinese leader noted that Kissinger recently turned 100 years old and visited China more than 100 times. The head of China also said that the PRC is ready to discuss with the United States how to “get on with each other properly.“ And gave a second hint that Henry should remember 1972. “I hope that you and [other] astute people in the US will continue to play a constructive role in getting China-US relations back on track.“ As for the first one, the fact that Xi met with Kissinger before Biden suggests that Beijing is blaming the current administration in the White House for the current state of US-China relations.
