USA: Activists demand charges against Assange be dropped

A group of activists staged a protest in front of the British Embassy in Washington DC Sunday afternoon, demanding for Julian Assange to be released from prison and all charges against him to be dismissed. Holding Signs and displaying a billboard on a truck, the group expressed its criticism against both US and British governments for holding Assange in prison. Activist Beth Bracken of the group Action For Assange, discussed the issue and outlined the hypocrisy in the district attorney not supporting dropping the charges. “Merrick Garland is the attorney general, he could also drop the charges right now, saying okay we understand this is a threat to the first amendment. He’s come out strongly in favour of press freedom and we don’t understand why he won’t just drop the charges” Bracken said.
