J-20’s WS-15 engine update: Chinese match the F-22 fleet with enhanced J-20 fleet

A new photo showing the latest J-20 fighter engine surfaces online recently. It portraits a J-20 taxing on runway with a pair of the latest WS-15 turbofan engines installed. The J-20 has drogue parachute deployed. The WS-15 engines have the unique serrated exhaust tips. Most analysts believe this is to reduce radar wave reflection strength to enhance the stealth capability of the J-20 fighter. The WS-15 is believed to match the capacity of the U.S. F-119 engine, which is the powerplant of the F-22 Raptor. If this is true, then the Chinese air force will be able to match the F-22 fleet with the J-20 fleet improved by the WS-15 engines. The next step would be a Chinese domestic engine close to the F-35’s F-135 engine, currently the F-135 represents the highest standard of military fighter jet engines.
