Twin Shadow - ’Forget’ (4AD Session)

Twin Shadow is the latest act to record for the 4AD Sessions series. Filmed at Teddington Studios at the back end of 2010, the session airs ahead of the band’s debut European tour and gives fans a real insight into the band’s live set up following the release of debut album, Forget, last year. While Twin Shadow has long been seen as the work of lead singer George Lewis Jr., the four session tracks show a tightly wound and musically astute four piece, effortlessly playing off one another. ’Slow’ and future single, ’Castles In The Snow’, both highlight the urgency that drives their live performances, while the version of ’Forget’ pushes George’s guitar playing to the fore, revealing an epic, almost stadium-like quality to the band not necessarily evident on record. More importantly, the session confirms that Twin Shadow are a formidable live proposition, leaning on classic rock and new wave signifiers, but able to channel their own unique charm and allure.
