Trying to Hold A Squirmy Baby Honey Badger - Meet Julius | Moholoholo Rehab Centre South Africa

Julius was a baby honey badger. He had been orphaned and luckily rescued. At Moholoholo Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre in South Africa, he was being raised to be an animal ambassador for honey badgers. And he was quite a handful, like most babies, as you can see. But quite a delightful little character. FUN FACTS ABOUT HONEY BADGERS Related to otters or ferrets, honey badgers have a reputation for being fierce and mean. Despite their relatively small size, they will take on any challenge. They have been known to attack porcupines, snakes, or even lions! They have very sharp strong teeth, easily cracking metal locks on food bins. They are also masters of escaping from confinement. Their long nails make them very efficient diggers, or even climbers if need be! Stoffel was a legendary honey badger at Moholoholo Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre who regularly escaped from his enclosure using rocks, branches, or a rake as tools if left there. A very smart guy indeed! If you want to know more about Moholoholo, then check out their website: Whilst we were volunteers there (they now have an official Student Program), they also offer day tours of the Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre, stayz at Forest Camp, Mountain View or Ya Mati accommodation, as well as educational courses for nature enthusiasts or those wishing for a career in conservation.
