Philippe Jaroussky – Handel: Il trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno: “Lascia la spina, cogli la rosa“

More well-known in its guise of “Lascia ch’io pianga“, this version of Handel’s aria appeared in his oratorio Il trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno. Discover this and more on countertenor Philippe Jaroussky’s album La Vanità del Mondo, recorded with the ensemble Artaserse: Handel composed this oratorio during the highly formative period he spent in Rome in the first decade of the 18th century. He wisely repurposed the music – a haunting sarabande originally heard in Almira, a little-known opera he wrote for Hamburg in 1705 – just a few years later in London, when he produced one of his most splendid operas, Rinaldo. __________ Warner Classics ► Website: Subscribe to our: ► YT- Channel: ► Newsletter Follow us on: ► Facebook: ► Instagram:
