Macron welcomes King Charles to Versailles Palace for star-studded banquet

Britain’s King Charles and Queen Camilla arrived at the Palace of Versailles on Wednesday (September 21) for a banquet given in their honour by French President Emmanuel Macron. Along with the royals, a long list of prominent guests from show business, sports and the business worlds were invited. Charles arrived in France earlier on Wednesday for a three-day state visit, during which he and Macron will hope to build on symbolism and personal bonds to turn the page on years of rocky relations between the two nations. The visit comes as French and British citizens feel the pinch of inflation at multi-decade highs, and the dinner at the sumptuous Palace of Versailles, a symbol of privilege, has been criticized by some as insensitive.
