Mishka Ziganoff - Oi oi di Koilen (classic klezmer accordion)
An instrumental version of the Yiddish folksong “koilen“ played as a dance.
From Josh Horowitz’s essay on the klezmer accordion (available on the Budowitz website): “Misha Demitro Tsiganoff was born on 15 January 1889, in Odessa, the son of Yanchie Demitro Tsiganoff and Vorgja Nickolarna, and died in February of 1967. He lived in Brooklyn and Manhattan, was Christian and spoke fluent Yiddish.
[...]
Tsiganoff began his recording career in New York in 1919 and made his last solo record ten years later in 1929. In the 1930s he was billed as “The Gypsy Accordionist“ on Philadelphia radio WPEN. He performed frequently with Molly Picon, the Pincus Sisters, David Medoff and Moishe Oysher, among others.“
The photo in the video was taken from this essay as well and is credited to Henry Sapoznik.
