The Windsong Pack: second largest wolf pack in Winter 2022-2023

A great look at the 5 Windsong Pack pups that survived to their first birthday! This video is from December 2022 when pups were about 8 months old. So while the pups are starting to look more and more adult-like, they still have some clear pup-like features (e.g., their faces). A pack having 5 pups survive is not the norm in our area. For perspective, average winter pack size over the past decade has only been 4.6 wolves and in the typical pack, two of the 4.6 wolves will be the breeding pair. Because so many pups survived, the Windsong Pack ended up being the second largest pack in the Greater Voyageurs Ecosystem this past winter with 7 wolves: the breeding male, the breeding female, and 5 pups.
