Plasmatics - Want You (Baby) (CBGB NY July 26, 1978)

This historic, if raw, very early video was shot at CBGB on July 26, 1978, and captures the Plasmatics second show ever. During these earliest of shows the band was a 3 piece, before the power hitter Wes Beech was added to the lineup. Those who know the song or the Plasmatics as they later became full blown will notice the tempo here, much slower than they would later play it (and all their early songs). But Wendy’s energy, her hard-hitting physical vocal and performing style is still completely unmissable all through the footage and even before the song begins where we can see her like a caged animal pacing, ready to burst free and explode. Wendy’s proclivity for provocative fashion is already evident here where she wears completely clear see-through vinyl pants and on top the first Plasmatics T shirt ever printed. The show was recorded live along with the whole set and then mixed down and released as part of the first ever Plasmatics recording “Butcher Baby” released on Vice Squad Records,
