Namibia is... GERMAN?!

Yesterday, I arrived in Namibia (my 143rd country!) to start a 10 day tour with G Adventures! But as I’ve been wandering around the unique capital city of Windhoek, I couldn’t help but notice how GERMAN everything feels. Seriously, the culture is bizarre here in Namibia! As I investigated further, I discovered that Namibia was a German colony (from 1884 - 1915), and despite 103 years of separation since the Germans left, their influence is still deeply rooted in Namibian society today. I became so fascinated by this German-Namibian culture, because the vast majority of the world that I’ve seen has been conquered by either the British, French, Spanish, Portuguese or Dutch... Not the Germans. Here is a fun video I put together today all about my observations on German-influenced Namibia. Just out of curiosity -- Is this all news to you? Or did you know that Namibia is German-influenced? Music: Epidemic Sound ► SUBSCRIBE for daily travel videos: ► Are you on Instagram? Join me @dre
