The Matterhorn (1965)

Film showing the lure of the Matterhorn for climbers. Mountaineers include a blind man and Sir John Hunt and his wife. Good adventurous feel to the film. Narrator speaks of the history of climbers on the mountain including Edward Whymper. Lots of good shots of climbers on various stages of the ascent. C/Us of walking boots, of hands grabbing on to rock, feet slipping etc. Aerial views of the mountain. Lone men walking through the snowy, rocky landscape. We also see the Swiss village of Zermatt at the base of the mountain. C/Us of tombstones of graves of walkers who have met their death on the mountain. Climbing equipment shop. Walkers with knapsacks and walking equipment walk through the village. Mules are loaded up with supplies for the climb. Zermatt is seen in the rain - narrator observes that rain in the village means snow on the mountain. A group of children and women shoppers walk through the village.
