Africa Negra - Aninha - AFH1101

Performance 7 July 2018. For more than 40 years, África Negra has held the musical sceptre over São Tomé and Príncipe, an island state in the armpit of Africa off the coast of Gabon. The band is well known in Portuguese-speaking countries and their Diasporas and is loved for his own inimitable soukous style. This style is a blend of the heavenly, sultry São Tomé rumba with delicious highlife shoots and is called ’mama Djumba’ by their fans. Their sound symbolized the first years of independence. Success however comes at a price; several times they have split up, reformed again and also gone through a number of personnel changes. Now they are back again, without losing any of their original sound of the early 80’s
