Steven Spielberg admits he didn’t want to do Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

In this documentary (found on the Crystal Skull DVD), Steven Spielberg admits he did not want to have aliens as a plot in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Not only that, but he admits that he didn’t want to do another Indy movie PERIOD. He was coerced into doing the movie and the alien plot by George Lucas. He felt that the Indy franchise should be left alone since it ended on such a good note. I, like many Indy fans, was severely disappointed in the Crystal Skull. It’s not that it wasn’t a good sequel, it’s the fact that it was just a bad movie in general, in my opinion of course. I felt the problems all lied in the script since it actually had a pretty high production value. I felt not only was the movie dumbed down for today’s audiences and children, but loaded with unnessecary CGI.
