E2 - Chicago’s Tim Anderson Ejected After Chirp w Giants Pitcher Logan Webb: Was it a Quick Pitch?

HP Umpire DJ Reyburn ejected White Sox SS Tim Anderson in the 3rd inning of Chicago’s game against San Francisco after he and Giants pitcher Logan Webb yelled at each-other about a strikeout. Report: Facebook: Twitter: Discord: Although the ejection occurred after White Sox batter Luis Robert’s at-bat, the dispute began during Anderson’s at-bat earlier in the inning, when Webb appeared to rush Anderson in the batter’s box, culminating with a strike three pitch during which Anderson stepped out of the batter’s box because he was not ready. Replays indicate Webb appeared to come set before Anderson was ready and alert to the pitcher, in violation of baseball’s so-called Max Scherzer interpretation of the pitch clock and procedure rules. The umpire, however, did not call the violation and instead called the pitch as it was thrown—strike three, resulting in Anderson’s strikeout. The chirping between Anderson and Webb resulted in a warning from Reyburn to “knock it off,“ resulting in Anderson’s ejection from the ballgame when he, apparently, failed to “knock it off.“
