Acheron 100% (HARDEST DEMON) - A 15 Month Grind

Well, that was something. I originally started this as a joke to be like “what if I verified Acheron?“ just for the laughs. Little did I know, I would be put through the biggest challenge in my life, one that nearly broke me several times. After losing out on the verification after 4 months of grinding, I immediately lost my drive to continute playing, especially since I was moving into college at the same time. I lost my sight of finishing this off for several months, until I decided to return to streaming in March after my mental health got rough. That choice may have saved me, Acheron aside. The comeback I made on this was something I don’t think I’ll ever be capable of repeating. I fought through six Twitch Partner rejections, until I finally got partnered on Twitch in late April. From there on out, I begun to close in on the impossible. I was stuck at 91% for the longest time, until I caught a second wind of momentum within the past two weeks. There, I managed to find my way through the mindblock, and reached 92%, and 97% the next day. Then, on June 28th, I had perhaps the most heartbreaking stream in GD history. I died at 97% THREE times within the span of 40 minutes, hyping up my community and followers, but I couldn’t pull it off, and went back to the hard grind, until today, on July 3rd, 2023, 452 days after I finished my first practice run on Acheron, I finally made it, and beat the hardest level in Geometry Dash. Now, the level itself. Despite the level being bone-crushingly difficult (its #1 for a reason), I was able to appreciate the gameplay for what it is. But when the level got verified, it turned into a bigger mental challenge than anything. It became less about being consistent, and more of surviving the infinite wall of chokepoints. The first jump is a 180hz frame perfect. The 6% orb spam never got consistent for me. 28% ended my momentum on countless occasions. 31%, I mean, you already know about that one. The 35 “skip“ may have saved me, I don’t know WHERE I would be if Doggie didn’t discover that. Thanks bro. The 37 wave never got consistent. The 42 yellow orb is a 3 frame on 360 and was a brutal chokepoint. I used to struggle a lot at 61-62, but I slowly got better at it. I didn’t get better at 67 however. That ship killed me WAY too many times. And then you get to 72%, what could be the hardest ship gap in any level, up there with the Silent Clubstep ship. It was impossible at first, but I managed to break through. Then you have the 89% wave click, which was a brutal roadblock. Then you have the last 10%, where every click can be considered a choke point. I died 26 times in total from 89-100. I don’t think I could have ever pulled through if I didn’t stream this level. I had zero motivation to play this off stream, but the streaming experience was actually very fun, despite the giant of a level that I faced.
