Following the Second World War, there were many executions of politicians that sided with Hitler and the Nazis and this occurred inside of Hungary. One politician who was executed by a firing sqaud was Ferenc Rajniss, a man who was responsible for the slaughter of thousands during the conflict. Rajniss would be power-obsessed and he tried to get into government wherever he could, and he would then become the Minister for Religion and Education. But Ferenc Rajniss was also involved in the deportations of thousands of people to concentration camps such as Auschwitz, in what was known as Operation Höss. This saw over 400,000 people executed as soon as they arrived at the site, but then Rajniss would be sentenced to death and he was then executed in Budapest following World War 2.
