Western Lesser Siren - Siren intermedia nettingi

Late last year (2008), before I learned how to take decent video with my equipment, I filmed this young Siren I found in Oklahoma. You can see him moving about and eating various foods. Sirens are very active salamanders, so much so that there’s never a dull moment with them. Unfortunately, they don’t become as tame as axolotls or tiger salamanders, and they always remain somewhat jumpy. However they make entertaining captives as you can see from this video.
