ABOUT THE FILM On 15 November 1974, a BBC film crew for ’Old Grey Whistle Test’, spent a day filming with John around Central Park and various other locations in New York, to make a video for the song “Whatever Gets You Thru The Night“, directed by John. The video was never broadcast, but a small amount of the footage emerged as a very short edit for the song “#9 Dream” in February 1975. In 2003, for the Lennon Legend DVD release, Yoko Ono purchased all the original camera film reels at auction, which were very aged and damaged from decay and scratching and, working with film editor Simon Hilton, cleaned them up and assembled this incredibly charismatic narrative of John, obviously greatly enjoying himself on a beautiful sunny autumnal day out in New York. ’That was a fun track because the voice is in stereo and the seeming orchestra on it is just me playing three notes with slide guitar. And the middle eight is reggae.’ Listen to the new ’Mind Games’ Ultimate Remix and discover John’s story behind the song at
