Greenland Shark: Northeast U.S. Canyons 2013

Did anyone see how the Okeanos Explorer 2013 field season ended in August? In case you missed it, need a refresher, or want to relive the moment: Here’s the Greenland shark that we encountered in the last few minutes of our last dive of the year off the Northeast U.S. coast. To get a sense of the size of the shark, consider that our remotely operated vehicle has an overall length of 10.5 feet and stands an impressive 8.5 feet tall.
