How Nujabes Influenced Lo-Fi Hip-Hop | Genius News
Nujabes, the Japanese producer who passed away in 2010, was known for his use of samples and his jazzy production. He’s often called the Japanese J Dilla, and the two actually share a birthday of February 7, 1964. In this video, Genius interviews close Nujabes collaborators Substantial and Shing02 to find out what it was like to work with the reclusive producer. Genius News also spoke to Jonny Laxton from YouTube channel College Music for information on how Nujabes influenced not only lo-fi, but anime’s connection to the subgenre through his work on Samurai Champloo.
