Alnwick celebrates advent of Lent with football game which has no rules and whose very origin is lost in the mists of our ancient history.“ Alnwick, Northumberland. A man playing Northumberland bagpipes leads a small procession of local dignitaries to collect the ball at Alnwick Castle. The ball is paraded into town. Lots of people have joined the procession.
