The Weird & Funky Panasonic SE-970 “Spartan“ Stereo!

A weird Panasonic stereo makes its way to Andrew’s Electronics! I normally do not service multiplex units like this (I’d rather work on the big and expensive stuff!) but I’ll make an exception when a few things line up: It’s not a poorly made unit (this immediately excludes 90% of “multiplex“ units!), it’s somehow unique and likely to sell on its cool factor alone, and I can service it to the standards expected of an Andrew’s Electronics product without requiring a purchase price outside of the bounds of the market segment. What we have here is one of the rare multiplex units to pass that gauntlet. Spartan fought it’s way through the shop! Sound quality is OK but not spectacular; it’s not a hi-fi component and it doesn’t pretend to be one but for casual listening of old records and radio it should suffice. There isn’t much power, the turntable is basic, and the unit is pretty much stuck with the 16cm speakers it comes with due to their unusual 16 ohm impedance. The speaker cones are in pristine condition just don’t expect to shake the walls with them. What it lacks in sound quality and power it makes up for in pure funkyness and charm! $95, Includes a 90 day warranty on the entire unit with 3 years on the capacitors.
