Arduino 3D scanner IR distance sensor

Best & Fast Prototype ($2 for 10 PCBs): Thanks to JLCPCB for supporting this video. This is an example of 3D scanner using IR distance sensor and step motors. As you can see in the video, the precision is not that good, but it is a perfect tutorial for learning purposes. To improve the precision you could: place tape over the IR led and make a small hole; use different better sensor; add better lead screw; use more measurements than 40; use more steps.
