San Francisco Approves Armed Police Robots!

The San Francisco Board of Supervisors has voted to approve the city police department’s use of robots outfitted with explosive devices to intervene in situations when other methods of intervention have proven fruitless and lives are at stake. But as anyone who has ever seen any dystopian film about the future knows, real life situations are rarely so cut-and-dried, and the idea that we should be deploying robots as stand-ins for police officers and granting them the power of life and death is no doubt going to come back to haunt us.
